On Borrowed Time
It pains us to say this, but by October of last year, the Ruskin Community Hall Associations pockets were almost empty. The cost of insuring and running the hall, coupled with declining interest in booking events, had slowly been chipping away at our ability to keep the doors open. Faced with only enough funds to pay the operating costs for three more months, the future did not look bright.
New Blood, New Ideas
Luckily, we’ve had an influx of new members joining the Hall Association, and with new blood comes new ideas. It’s never easy trying new things, or explaining to someone new how our beloved hall came to be on the brink of closing its doors. Once we worked past the emotions involved, we welcomed our new members and empowered them to run with their ideas on how to save the hall.
Multi-pronged Campaign
While you’ve likely heard of our Go Fund Me campaign, did you know about the incredibly successful battery drive, or about all of the donations that were collected and sold by weight to Value Village?
Success! For Now…
If you followed our Go Fund Me, or if you clicked-through on the link above, you may have seen Jacqueline’s update that the Hall was saved for another year.
Wow! Our hard work sure is paying off! We have saved the hall for another year! At this time we want to direct our attention towards some much needed building maintenance and updates! Please help support our cause, please SHARE this post!!!
It’s true, we have raised enough to keep the doors open, but to really ensure a bright future for the Ruskin Hall, we need to continue supporting it.
We’re starting to see renewed interest from local business, and from the community wanting to make use of our space. This is great, but now’s not the time to let up. If we want more than just to keep the doors open, we need more support.
Please share this page and our story. Only together can we build a better future for community and for our beloved hall.
Thank you.
